Our disgraceful Department of Justice.

In the November 2008 election, some New Black Panther Party members engaged in behavior before a Philadelphia polling station for which the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice took them to court for voter intimidation. Inexplicably, the case was dismissed after the Panthers had defaulted.

All manner of DOJ stonewalling and footdragging have occurred since then when anyone attempted to find out the reason for this stunning DOJ action. Maggie at Maggie’s Notebook lays it all out, including the details of DOJ attorney J. Christian Adams’s brave resignation over what he saw and couldn’t swallow.

In essence:
Most disturbing, the dismissal is part of a creeping lawlessness infusing our government institutions. Citizens would be shocked to learn about the open and pervasive hostility within the Justice Department to bringing civil rights cases against nonwhite defendants on behalf of white victims....Open contempt is voice[d] for these types of cases.
~ J. Christian Adams.

Of course, the reverse of this situation would be cause for a mighty uproar in the press and the halls of Congress but with the disgraceful thinking and policies in evidence here there is no storm whatsoever.

No one can doubt the alien nature of this administration after this outrage.

Short-sighted politicians.

But the worst aspect of [the Obama] administration's national security policy is its clear intention to do nothing that has any realistic chance of stopping Iran from getting nuclear weapons. This may be the most grossly irresponsible policy in all of history, because it can leave this generation — and future generations — at the mercy of terrorists who have no mercy and who cannot be deterred, as the Soviet Union was deterred.

* * * *

. . . [General Douglas] MacArthur had reasons to have contempt for politicians, going all the way back to FDR, who cut the army's budget in the 1930s, while Nazi Germany and imperial Japan were building up huge military machines that would kill many an American before it was all over.
It mattered a great deal to American citizens in the '40s that FDR and his Democrat Congress had failed in their most basic duty -- to assess and act on the dangers the country faced. Americans paid dearly for that failure.

As Prof. Sowell notes, we will pay dearly for Obama's and the Dems' stupidity and weakness where Iran is concerned. Bush failed here too. When he sent the troops to Iraq the Iranians were quaking in their boots that they were next, but he failed to press his advantage. Instead we had the surreal inquiry into Niger yellow cake and Valerie Plame's status as a long-since-sidelined clandestine operator -- and the elephant in the room was Iran with a known nuclear weapon development program. Iraq never became the aircraft carrier from which we could launch an attack on Iran.

Yes, military action is what is required. Either take action now when the cost is relatively low (but not as low as back then), or later when the cost will be very high indeed. Talk and sanctions are for fools at this juncture. Anyway, Obama isn't serious about sanctions. If he were, he'd go after Iranian gasoline imports and, shortly after that proved ineffective, Iran's refineries. Minimum.

The only radioactive substance the mullahs should ever control is Chinese wristwatches with radium dials.

Besotted by the feminine.

What has changed is that we have abandoned the warrior ethos in favor of the feminine.

While the modern western man reviles the warrior and weeps for the woes of the world while doing nothing, but adding fuel to the fire, he truly does not understand what he has rejected or that he now makes himself a willing victim for aggression.[1]
Some writers speak of “thumos,” a spiritedness that infuses a man to dare, to fight. This spirit is very little in evidence among Western man. He waits instead for others to provide for him and loses himself in empty pastimes. Do you want to see passion and commitment? Think Superbowl, NASCAR, ESPN. Distant champions o do battle with no personal risk. Vicarious battle in an X-box culture.

The war cry of modern Western man -- “What, me worry?" Or is it, "BOHICA"?

Where is the outrage over the hourly excesses of the third world invaders and the native leadership's theft of a nation's essence?

There is none.

Only a servile acceptance of the fairy tales and obfuscations of modern political life. "Is something discriminatory, racist, sexist, homophobic, bad for the environment, or mean-spirited or does it 'privilege' the indigenous population?" is seemingly the sole political or moral question that fires the passion of the educated classes. With a corrupt MSM and film and educational establishments, the culture takes its cue.

Wholesale violation of the nation’s borders and being preyed upon by illegal immigrants and their citizen enablers? These cause not a blip on the national ICU life support monitor. The Nation doesn't even know it's sick. The proof is in the result we see.

Even Chuck Norris, after vanquishing a company of cranky ninjas with his samurai sword, drops his sword like it was a dead possum instead of holding it aloft in triumph. Nine U.S. movies out of 10 with non-thug, non-military characters who must use a gun have them do so gingerly and with the expectation that the slightest touch will cause the weapon to fire of its own volition and kill the nearest adorable, recovering child cancer victim. NO film character who by some miracle lays a two by four up side the head of some thug will EVER stick around to finish the job but will lamely drop the lumber and flee like a bunny rabbit pursued by the now revived thug. Nope. Incessant Hollywood message: violence is icky, solves nothing, and just isn't for decent folks.

Dirty Harry, Charlie Bronson, and Golan-Globus movies depicted stern men but were aberrations. (For the absolute ultimate in wuss movies see "Congo." The toughest character is a white woman followed marginally only by the main black male character. The main white male character is a pansy.)

We studious ignore problems and attack all cultural strengths that would solve those problems.

When problems can't be ignored, we subvert those who have to deal with them. MK at Crusader Rabbit has an interesting view of shifting "rules of engagement" that always seem to operate to hamstring the West in its confrontations with the third world.[2] No military strike can go down without a notarized certificate from the A.C.L.U. that no kangaroo rats or lying, conniving, terrorist-enabling enemy civilians will be harmed. And if an M-16 bullet launcher will git ‘er done, well, then, we’re supposed to use a tire iron instead. Take a knife to a knife fight even when you've got a gun. Conflict resolution a la the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Also from Mr. Stout:
We expect man to be a pure and reasoning being who only has the best intentions for himself and others. If you truly believe this fantasy, then you do yourself and those of your community a disservice. You see, you will constantly shoot down any plan that does not involve something warm and fuzzy when dealing with people who remain more animal than yourself and this will ultimately prove fatal to both yourself and the community if there are large enough numbers of people who believe as you do. Likely, you tell yourself you are making a new world, but sadly you are only leading the lamb to the slaughter and your eyes are closed as you walk closer to the butcher.

There will come a day when you will be right about the nature of man, but it is not this day. Today, we must use the animal within ourselves to fight the animal that seeks to destroy us and our society. Against malice and hatred, you can only destroy your foe if you are to survive. That we have no desire to do this speaks well of our character, but our choice comes down to this: either we wage the war that must be fought or give it to our children to fight as an inheritance of our apathy.[3]

So who are we to pass judgment?

It’s new, it’s vibrant, it’s exciting and refreshing:
Mexican drug gangs even have an unofficial religion: They worship La Santa Muerte, a Mexican version of the Grim Reaper.
And who are we to keep them out of the U.S. -- a nation open to all the world?

"The Perilous State of Mexico." By David Luhnow and José de Cordoba, Wall Street Journal, 2/21/09.

Surreal president.

A great part of America now understands that this president's sense of identification lies elsewhere, and is in profound ways unlike theirs. He is hard put to sound convincingly like the leader of the nation, because he is, at heart and by instinct, the voice mainly of his ideological class. He is the alien in the White House, a matter having nothing to do with delusions about his birthplace cherished by the demented fringe.[1]
Ms. Rabinowitz is one of my favorite thinkers. Truly an extraordinary person. Apparently, however, given the way she expresses herself on the point and what she doesn’t say about it, no sane, intelligent person
Anything in a 34-long?
can have any legitimate concern about any issue surrounding the place of , circumstances of, or documentation bearing on Mr. Obama’s birth. Or about the extraordinary efforts and money expended by him or on his behalf to conceal that documentation. Just us chickens, guys!

Her primary point is right on the money, of course. This joker has a visceral response to the names Alinsky, Guevara, Castro, Fanon, Chavez, Ayers, and Said that is light years from his response to the names Madison, Franklin, Churchill, or Reagan.

Moreover, the America that Obama loves is the America that is yet to be:
I decided I won’t wear that [flag] pin on my chest. Instead I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great
Rev. "God damn America!" Wright and friend.
and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism.
~ Barack Obama, October 2007.[2]

No dumbass American flag lapel pin for him.

Note his studied focus on the future. What America is and what it owes to those who founded and built this country go unmentioned. None of that. The Great Carnack’s Obama’s vision of
Nimrod exercise to be endured.
what will make America great is what will establish his patriot creds.

Whatever that future America is, rest assured it’s an America that will bear no resemblance to America as Americans have known it for most of its existence.

Patriotism as vapor.

An American speaks.

Our Muslim overlords and their All-American appeasers.

Here’s an excerpt from a truly brilliant piece by Daniel Greenberg. It’s hard to grasp the extent of Saudi penetration of the civilized world but it is far, far more pervasive than any of us can imagine. (Remember Bert Lance’s efforts on behalf of BCCI’s secret purchase of the National Bank of Georgia using Saudi front man, Ghaith Pharaon, at one time Harvard’s only Muslim trustee?[1]) The cancer of liberalism and stateless multinational corporations, inter bleeding alia (the list is long), all played a pivotal part but you can be sure that tolerating the control of vast oil wealth by a vicious and utterly backward people -- and the attendant bestowing of immense wealth on those people -- must surely be the fundamental reasons why the West lost its soul.
The latest round of European denunciations of Israel are nothing more than Western governments acting like proxies of Islam. Which is exactly what they are. And when Muslim immigrants treat European countries as their new colonies, those same governments react by treating them as their new masters, and like good native rulers, they silence all domestic dissent. After all who knows what the masters might do to them, if they spoke up. Who knows. Certainly not them.

The left enjoys accusing America and Europe of colonialism in regard to the Muslim world, but the reality is of course completely backward. How many Westerners are moving to Muslim countries, vs how many Muslims are moving to Western countries. And while Westerners in the Muslim world are expected to abide by the most repressive and sexist laws of the region, Muslims who come to the West bring their own laws with them, and expect us to abide by them. Which means that not only had you better not liquor up in Riyadh, but you had better not do it in parts of Minnesota either. Or anywhere in New York where Muslims decide to open up their mosques.

* * * *

The homelands of civilization have become colonies of the Muslim world, accepting and caring for their surplus populations. . . .

* * * *

. . . We have not fought a single significant war since Vietnam that was not on behalf of, or intended to benefit Muslims. Not a single one.[2]
Puzzled why we turned on our allies the Serbs and coughed up the abomination that is independent Kosovo? Look no further. We are being colonized and the appeasers in our government -- for years -- have willingly facilitated it. There is a profusion of voices, historical revelations, and penetrating analyses that the earnest student can consider as he or she attempts to make sense of a West that has gone mad. This article, however, should be the centerpiece of one’s understanding.

Moral inversion.

Two excellent posts not to be missed:
If you ever wondered why (1) millions of illiterate peasants flood into our country over an open border while our army is deployed on the other side of the world, and (2) Mr. Obama, every past president, every life-time tenured federal bureaucrat, and every solon not playing grab ass with members of his staff are energized like Socks the Cat with his tail on fire over the flood of oil into the Gulf, these two posts might just be for you.

As The Onion reports in its truly hysterical piece, "New Study Reveals Most Children Unrepentant Sociopaths" (12/9/09), children have “poor impulse control, an inability to plan ahead, and a proclivity for violence” and will “say anything without consideration for accuracy or truth . . . .”

Then they grow up become larger in size.

America the unbearable.

Great comment on Fresh Bilge:
To campaign on as airy a platform as “hope,” Obama had to persuade millions of people enjoying a standard of living already unsurpassed in human history, and in a country universally recognized as “the world’s only superpower,” that their lives were nonetheless miserable — without hope — and merited sweeping redress by benign secular overlords.
