Practical Sharia - I.

Cecelia Holland, 27, was dragged from a bus in Kartoum, Sudan, by the police and arrested for not wearing a hijab.

Ms. Holland, a Christian commited to the ways of folly, was taken to an Islamic court the next morning and, denied any opportunity to speak in her defense, sentenced to be whipped (40 big ones) and fined one-third of a month's pay. She was also charged with “standing near a garden at night.”

Reasonable people can understand the desire of the muslim Sudanese to stamp out proximal garden standing. But aren't 40 lashes for that and not wearing a scarf a just a litttttttle excessive?

Surely 20 strokeroonies would have been enough to deter the reprobate Ms. Holland from further rampages!
