Graphic video of Iraq combat. Not for the squeamish.
This mujahideen, insurgent, jihadi, or whatever, freely decided to take the field against US troops on behalf of one of history's more ignoble causes, which isn't saying much. The man had courage to go out in the open like that, though it shows an incredible stupidity as well.
There is a certain penalty for this, as you can see, which we frankly relish. Pantywaist sensibilities require us to wring our hands in despair, but we do not.
Anyone who doesn't like this little bit of frankness can just let me know. I'll post a picture of, say, a helpless Westerner about to be beheaded to remind you what these people are all about. It's not about analyzing or talking any more, it's about killing so many of our enemies that they do not dare to attack us. Col. Ghaddafi call your office.
This is just what the doctor ordered and the pressure on other of our enemies must be long-term, relentless and horrific. It's a brutal and archaic concept we grant you. And majestically sophisticated for its simplicity. At some point the dregs of the world need to understand that the West is through with discussion and compromise. God bless George Bush for recognizing this.
The enemy having failed in open combat now resorts to IEDs and killing children with human bombers.
Assymetric warfare.
Pray that the suitcase nukes will not make it across our borders. Keeping the assymetrics out is as much a priority as putting naval iron in the sea.
Alas, Mr. Bush's utter indifference to this is impossible to understand.

Dear Colonel,
What would you recommend be done?
Herewith a paraphrase of the President's message:
Excellency,
I write to you reluctantly to bring up a small matter. It has come to my attention that your government may possess nuclear weapons or is seeking them. In these parlous times this has raised a degree of concern with me and the citizens of The United States. We all pray to our own Gods that nothing untoward will happen. If, however, the unthinkable should occur then I can't tell you how much pressure I would be under to do something. I would, of course, expend the maximum effort to determine the real culprit. Unfortunately, this is not a foolproof process. Tragic mistakes have occurred throughout history.
Wishing you health, happiness and long life, I remain,
George
Or words to that effect.
Regards,
Roy
Dear Roy,
Hey! Who said this blog was at all into constructive commentary?
I like your "more in sorrow than in anger" approach to a your notional head of state.
So far as the actual head of Iran is concerned I believe that bizarre, malevolent regimes such as his simply must not be able to get the nukes. If it takes all out war to prevent Iran from acquiring nukes then that is what must be planned for and executed in short order.
Direct remonstrance with particular nations or a group of nations (suggesting that we'd hold them responsible as a group) may be the only way to go, for the reason that we probably cannot prevent a small group of infiltrators from entering the US somewhere. However, that's not to say the borders should therefore be left as wide open as possible, per current policy.
For two hundred years the West stayed militarily far ahead of any Krazy Kat peoples. The relative advantage has diminished more and more. I think the gap has permitted us a significant degree of insulation from true barbarism.
Barbarism has gotten a lot closer as we have witnessed the ability of pure primitives to get their hands on advanced technology. Stingers are bad enough but, now, nukes?
We better think that one thru long and hard.
Thanks for your comment. I hope this was somewhat responsive.
