An Arab view of Arab hatred.

The lability of Arab opinion on this issue of the Danish cartoons seems to have its origins in the dynamics of the present day Arab world rather than in an appreciation of the substantive merits of Koranic injunctions against representations of the Prophet. Christians, even Christian fundamentalists (eek), did not freak out over the execrable Serrano piss Christ. Probably they were horrified, disgusted, or outraged, or come combo of those, but they didn't call for the crucifixion or beheading of Serrano.

No, there's something more going on here. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

We must face it and say the truth that the problem of the Arabism and Arab unity is not the problem of the Arabic regimes, part of this division is in us, the Arabs.

If you notice you will find the younger generations, the promising future of the Arab world, those who inherit the Arabism and unity and all those beautiful words of the 50s and 60s are more racists to their ethnic nationalities then ever, in fact I doubt if any generation is racist like this one.

You want a proof, here is a link for an old piece of News in the Arabya.net, I am sorry I didn't post it before, this is news was about the Car accident of the Qatari royalty that Caused death in Egypt, this is the second time to happen in Egypt.

Do you see how much we hate each other? , is it not about some careless royalty then it became a [matter of] national dignity whether you are right or wrong.

This is dangerous and no one wants to give it attention.

And the problem it is increasing day after day and ironically it started in very silly thing , that music show of the Arabic version of Pop idol : Super star on the future TV ,Do you remember the hidden war between Syria and Jordan ,just because the two finals were from there ,sms [?] in music channels showed there is something going ,some change was happening ,the Arabic youth was so angry just for some music contest and people were dying in Palestine ,Millions of dollars were spent on SMS while people were dying in Iraq!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then Came the blessed Star academy, ironically the LBC TV is spreading that it produces this program to encourage creativity and talents in the Arab world ,also encourage Unity across our nation from Gulf to Ocean[.] People in the first and the second seasons ,Arabic Countries were insulted , Arabic people were insulted daily every minute in the Music video TV channels in the sms bar , Rotana for the Gulf ,Melody for Egyptian …etc

It is disgusting when some for Saudia Arabia insults the Kuwaitis because the two semi finals are Saudi and Kuwaiti , it is terrible when some Kuwaiti sent a sms saying Egypt is poor country , Egyptians are beggers , that don't have one pound ,all these and more because some silly Egyptian and Kuwaiti reached the finals in Star academy season 1.

This is a dangerous situation that needs to a look, to say how we reached this level of hate and racism.

It is dangerous because even when the Arab world was under the western ccupation, we didn't hate each in this way, we didn't hate each other at all

UPDATE #2:

The uproar underlines an alarming tendency in Islamic societies to lash out at the West at the slightest provocation. When a few simple drawings, however controversial, can trigger outrage from Cairo to Kuala Lumpur, it is clear that something is askew in the psyche of a civilization. To put it plainly, the Islamic world has a chip on its shoulder.

I think the matter is not so much oversensitivity. These images are not set up for decoration or for worship. These cartoons say something. Likely the truth. The truth hurts as is said. The Arabs are behaving like the spoiled brat. They rant and rave and riot and destroy and they sometimes get their way. The Arabs which to rule the media before they've even conquered the various non Muslim nations.

I very much agree. The "sensitivity" is there, although more so on the issue of status of women. I attribute much of the exaggerated response of Muslim men on that point to what I've called Muslim male panic in my blog.

The "sensitivity" on this cartoon issue is, however, very much a manufactured one. It didn't get off the ground until the imams started meeting and plotting.

The Wall Street Journal pointed out that the demonstrations in Syria in front of the embassies wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds had the government not willed them to be. Words to that effect.

Tony Snow was on the radio this morning arguing that the idiots in the street are the new power in global communications. We're supposed to shut up because these people are offended? I don't think so (and neither did Tony).

The weak kneed newspaper publishers in this country (also criticized by Tony) have caved, not realizing that they enable the Muslim idiots in their quest to control our politics and, as you say, rule our media before a physical or electoral conquest.
