Kim du Toit and criticism of Britain.

A zillion years ago (in blog years—it was in 2003, in fact) I wrote that the reasons I post commentary and links towards various social atrocities occurring in Blighty are threefold.

Reason #1: Not working too well, is it? For so many years, especially in matters of gun control and healthcare, the Left has continuously shoved Great Britain in our conservative faces as being the epitome of sunshine and light. Britain’s lower murder- and crime rates were ascribed to stringent gun control, for example, and the National Health Service, available to all British citizens since 1948, was held up as an example of what we should institute Over Here to avoid the Greedy Rapacious Drug Companies and other bugbears of the Socialist Ideal. It should not be surprising, therefore, that as the wheels come off both Safe Britain and its NHS, we conservatives on this side of the Pond would point out to the Left the failures of both institutions.
