The New Canada.

Diplomad has this apt summary of changes in Canada:

We've likewise bemoaned the destruction of the once-valiant nation of Red Ensign Canada (no Maple Leaf at this house!) by those who seem ashamed of their country's honorable and courageous role in defending the West and freedom, and now want it to be an anti-American sharia-besotted Botswana with snow.
Not that Botswana stacks up all that badly in the New African Dispensation.

Unfortunately, with this post Diplomad announces its discontinuation. Yet another in a very short string of other blog departures announced without explanation. E.g., Fjordman, Allahpundit.

Well, actually those are only two that come to mind. But who will quarrel with our saying that they were two of the very finest. Real gems. All other blobbers but imposters, morphs, and trolls.

What is it with the "no explanation" departure? Since there are simple reasons that make perfect sense and could be freely stated (e.g., bored, bandwidth expensive, pressing engagement) it makes us think there is some nefarious reason for it.

We recall Allah's being threatened with or involved in some litigation he would not further describe. Then later, we think, he indicated that it just got to be too much of a hassle, or something like that. We didn't bookmark either instance, so we hope the gist of what was just written is reasonably accurate.

Anyway, we sorely miss his hysterical photo essays, Fjordman's insightful analysis, and, though we just ran across Diplomad, the silence of a rare Republican in the State Department.

"Hello! Hello! I really must be going!" Diplomad, 2/5/06.
