No appeasement! No submission!

Dr. Sanity quotes Mark Steyn on the significance of the Teheran embassy hostage taking: an assertion of a universal jurisdiction under the sharia overriding non-Islamic international conventions on the treatment of diplomats.

The fatwa against Salman Rushdie and the reward offered by the Uttar Pradesh government minister, Haji Yaqoob Qureishi for beheading a cartoonist in Denmark (discussed in our preceding post) are similar evidence of the contempt that perfervid Islamic idiots have for western concepts of national sovereignty.

We are faced with an enemy "guided," if you will, by an irrational body of doctrine of infinite fluidity and ambiguity, permitting absolute discretion in (a) killing Christians, Jews, "polytheists," Buddhists, bikers, and any other kind of infidel, (b) anyone else who badly needs killing (prostitutes, teachers , more teachers , Christian girls {extremely graphic}), and (c) in violating any law or border in Dar al-Harb.

Aside: as you know, Dar al-Harb is the "house of war" where Muslims do not rule and where there is no submission.

Dar al-Harb is, of course, another name for our homes. Little did we know living in our homes is just a temporary form of independence from Islam and its associated barbarisms.

More importantly, perhaps, is the fact that "war" is also descriptive of the relationship between dar al-harb and dar al-islam. Muslims are expected to bring God's word and God's will to all of humanity, by force if absolutely necessary, and attempts by the regions in dar al-harb to resist or fight back must be met with a similar amount of force.
"Dar al-Harb vs. Dar al-Islam. Peace, War, and Politics." By Austin Cline, About.com (emphasis added).

Islam to Earth: SURRENDER, SUBMIT, OBEY, REGRESS.

What makes this a difficult battle to comprehend is that we have failed to keep the Muslim menace outside the pale, away from the heartland. The presence of the Muslim fanatic inside the home territories, permitted and invited by the West, permits the moral and physical intimidation of host peoples in a way that would be inconceivable from outside the borders.

Moreover, the yeomen of the lands thus affected do not have an image of missile strikes and massed infantry advancing on the border to energize them. (We like Wretchard's "bring out the village with torches and pitchforks" and "the canary in the mine" images) They must pierce the fog deliberately created by the likes of CAIR and others who similarly abuse the concept of fair and equal treatment to neutralize opposition.

Hollywood has a job to do in creating stark images of the threat. It is sad to see excellent actors like George Clooney still getting it wrong about controversies involving COMMUNIST subversion that are 50 years old. It is sad to see competent directors like Ang Lee waste their talent on movies about lusty, adulterous sheepherders.

There are more important stories to tell.

Expecting Hollywood to mount a spirited defense of Western values will involve a long wait for product. Throughout the long and violent Cold War Hollywood never produced a film about Stalin, Mao, or Castro that captured the enormity of their crimes. "The Killing Fields" came the closest of all in portraying the vicious and incomprehensible bloodlust of Communists, but even then fell short of telling the whole story.

If the left has a story to tell about the last century it can be summed up in the words "McCarthy," "Fascism," and "insensitive." The left managed to trivialize the debate about the danger of unlimited secular power. Hitler's fascism was a manifestation of hate, never an instance of socialism and the total loss of liberty of the individual in the face of total state power.

The left will do this again on the issue of unlimited religious power.

However, intellectuals of all stripes had better enlist in this struggle, which is proving to be far more dangerous. The Soviets and Chinese clearly moderated their behavior because they were not indifferent to the threat of nuclear retaliation.

Can it be said with an iota of realism that the fanatic Ahmadinejad (who speaks of auras manifesting around his head during his speech to the United Nations) is similarly constrained mentally? To the contrary, there's some reason to believe that he believes that chaos will usher in the return of the 12th Imam.

The craven failure of the American and European newspapers, and the firing of Michael Graham by the pusillanimous radio station WMAL in Washington, DC last year, indicate, unfortunately, that there is little real understanding of the battle that is afoot.

Free speech is a CORE VALUE and it has been casually compromised by those who should know better. Michelle Malkin tried to organize an appropriate response. Where were the journalism schools, the societies of journalists, the major networks, and the major papers? Michelle was out there by herself.
