"Making Sacrifices." Sepia Mutiny, 2/3/06.

Note: the Dennis Duggan article in NYNewsay cited by Sepia Mutiny has gone walkabout.

UPDATE:

Sgt. Khan himself has commented on this two-year-old post. I moved it up to the present with my additional comments. I changed the title to "American warrior" rather than "Muslim warrior."

The entire Duggan article can be found at this link in the comments section:

Also, I'm sure you meant well but I'd bet you that Sgt. Khan would prefer to think of himself as an American Warrior and not a Muslim Warrior

Thanks for the link.

Yes, quite so. You make a good point.

Still, to say John Jones, US Army, is a Christian warrior would not be to say that he is in any way not an American soldier.

Sorry for the double negative.

Nor would it to say that Jones is a warrior in the service of Christianity.

We hear so much of Muslim hostility but clearly there are those who have a different view of Western values.

In this particular instance I would be guided by what Sgt. Khan thinks, if I knew that. I trust he would appreciate the respect intended to be expressed.

Sorry for the late post, but I knew SGT Khan when I was stationed at Walter Reed. The Army often makes things sound so friggin' corny. However, SGT Khan is the real deal. I am honored to have know him, and feel that now that he has his U.S. citizenship, this country is stronger. He knows, and more importantly, cares more about current events in this country than most citizens who were born here. And you will not find a more angry follower of Islam than SGT Khan when talking about terrorists who deface the name of the Islam.

I never think of myself a s a muslim warrior, i am an American soldier who is serving this great country and nation. America gave me chance,America said, wasim,we believe in you,go get your American dream. America has giving me everything! I hear people saying different things but bottom line is this, this is my life and i always put me life in the line for this country at giving time. God bless America!

Anonymous (7/8/06). Thanks. I'm glad to know from someone with firsthand experience how Sgt. Kahn thinks. Sorry, I didn't notice your comment until Sgt. Khan commented.

Sgt. Khan, thank you for your comment and, of course, for all that you have done for our country.

I am highly critical of Islam and think that it is the reason for many troubles in the world. There also appears to be a powerful pull exerted on Muslims in the direction of the ummah and away from allegiance to the Western government where some live. I am pleased to know that there are Muslims who have such strong allegiance to the U.S. as yourself.

Maybe it Anonymous (2/23/06) is correct. I should change the title of my post to "American Warrior." If apologies are due, here is my apology.
