The group [Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission] interviewed about 800 Afghans whose sisters, daughters and daughters-in-law have killed themselves by self-immolation to escape domestic abuse, forced marriage and other misogynistic social customs.There is nothing in Afghan culture, such as religion, history, politics, or social structure, from which one could possibly conclude that people from Afghanistan are, well, uh, backward. People from Kabul should be welcome to migrate to the U.S. just as much as people from Ireland.
But where do those darn "misogynistic social customs" come from? It's anybody's guess. We sure as heck can't figure it out. Permit us just this one wild guess, though. Could it be from the legacy of Western imperialism?

Of course it is our fault. If the Taliban could have beaten our military, they wouldn't have to beat their wives to prove their manhood. Must be frustrating. ;)
That's right. The life of a manly mujahadeen is rough. Too weak to take on the Coalition? Then stay at home and watch Paris Hilton videos and whomp the missuz. What OTHER alternative is there?
