Richard John Neuhaus's question to an "influential" French archbishop: Assimilation or expulsion of Muslims from Europe?

“We hope for [assimilation],” he said, “while we work at reducing immigration and prepare ourselves for soft Islamization.”

This is the thinking at nose bleed levels of French society.

It hopes for the ridiculous, waives a scented hanky in the direction of reducing immigration, but assumes and prepares for the failure of that reduction effort. With silence on the expulsion issue.

This is contemptible non-policy. It is nothing less than surrender. Maybe the Muslims will be nice to them once they get control.
