Kenyan violence; Obama's pal.

Melanie Phillips notes the MSM's ascribing of the recent violence and church burnings in Kenya to "tribal conflict." Well, it will surprise readers of this blog to learn that there's another element in this political puzzle:
Muslim leaders in Kenya are threatening armed conflict if the new Kenyan constitution does not enshrine Islamic courts . . . .
For years, Kenya has been subjected to creeping Islamisation and jihadi violence by elements within the country’s ten per cent Muslims against the Christian majority. Yet unaccountably there was no mention of this key fact in the media coverage of the post-election violence. Well, fancy!

In the Christian Post, this article, . . . put events in a rather more accurate context. Raila Odinga, it said, who was then the current presidential frontrunner, had promised to implement strict Islamic Sharia law if he received the Muslim vote and was elected president. Odinga had signed a secret memorandum of understanding with Sheikh Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Leaders Forum, in which Odinga had allegedly stated his intention, if elected, to
‘within six months, rewrite the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Sharia as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions’.
* * * *

And now look at this on Atlas Shrugs which, after railing at the media for failing to report what is actually going on in Kenya, makes the following claim:
Raila Odinga has, in his own words, a 'close personal friendship' with Barrack Hussein Obama Junior.When Obama went to Kenya in August of 2006, he was hosted by Raila and spoke in praise of him at rallies in Nairobi: Obama's bias for his fellow Luo was so blatant that a Kenya government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Raila's ‘stooge.’[1]
Ok, so first, we have the African version of the leftist Swedish sellout to the immigrant Muslim minority. A major sellout of the majority just to get elected. Elected at any cost, obviously.

On top of which there's the problem of figuring out what the heck Mr. Obama, the son of a Kenyan Muslim (but who was divorced from Mr. Obama's mother when he was two) is doing in Africa acting like he can't do enough to get Raila Odinga elected, the very same Odinga who'd signed a secret MOU with the Muslims.

Where do Mr. Obama's loyalties lie? Is he a Muslim, a Luo, a Kenyan, a black separatist Trinity United Church of Christ ("Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian") Christian, or what?

Daniel Pipes analyzed the issue of Mr. Obama's religion and quotes him as saying that his father came from a Muslim village [and was thus presumably a Muslim] but he "didn't practice Islam." Mr. Obama says he "never practiced Islam" but there is evidence that he attended mosque in Indonesia and prayed there, and that he was registered by his family as a Muslim at both of the schools he attended there.
Summarized, available evidence suggests Obama was born a Muslim to a non-practicing Muslim father and for some years had a reasonably Muslim upbringing under the auspices of his Indonesian step-father. At some point, he converted to Christianity. It appears false to state, as Obama does, "I've always been a Christian" and "I've never practiced Islam." The campaign appears to be either ignorant or fabricating when it states that "Obama never prayed in a mosque."[2]
His time in Indonesia was only from age 6-10. What instruction a child of that age receives in Muslim religion classes I don't know. Some accounts of such instruction in Pakistan suggest that it's an experience long on memorization and autocratic methods so perhaps it was a glancing blow, so to speak. The unusual affinity with Mr. Odinga suggests, however, that Mr. Obama may feel more of an pull toward Islam than he lets on. True, Mr. Odinga may not have clued Mr. Obama in on his plans for sharia in Muslim areas of Kenya. Mr. Obama can dispel some suspicion by explaining his unusually ardent support for this sell out and political whore. While he's at it he can explain his membership in Trinity U.C.C. with its advocacy of the Black Value System, an "instrument of Black self-determination."

At this point, this gentleman's all over the map to my way of thinking.
