Rational Muslim voices.

My fury at having to deal with the putrid doctrines, actions, and goals of the Islamicists is only barely contained by various antipsychotic meds and a gin and tonic with breakfast, over lunch, and before dinner. I have minimal faith in the ability of Muslim "moderates" to deal effectively with their deranged brethren.

My reading also just hasn't taken me to much of the work of the apostates from Islam, or the underanged adherents of that faith it. I more than have my hands full trying to come to some informed judgment about Islam, what it does to its adherents, and how it's become a refuge from failed third world governments, societies, and economies.

When I ran across an article by Zarrar Said, I was pleasantly surprised to be exposed to a calm and insightful look at the dysfunctional Pakistani community of Luton in Britain by an apparent Pakistani Muslim.[1] He describes the scamming of the government, the drug abuse and trafficking, and the highly "religious" young, married Muslim males complaining among themselves that all Pakistani women who've grown up in Britain are whores and how it's hard for them (the guys) to get laid these days.

Apparently a weak appreciation for irony in some Islamic circles.

I need to pay more attention to the reasonable voices, but I note nonetheless that they still seem rare. Inevitably there are drowned out by the cacophony of bullshit (sorry, Mom) from the imams and other notables of Islam. (E.g., the Islamic doctrine of the flat world, I kid you not.[2]) Yes, the Islam you're thinking of. The Islam that is the seventh century's inspirational gift to the Hale-Bopp faith communities of the ages.

At a minimum, Western governments need to mine observations such as Said's to craft an ideological response to the sappy ideas its resident Muslim underclass has embraced. As the recent report of the Royal United Services Institute says, British government thinking has been flabby and bogus and it has failed to "lay down the line" to immigrants.[3]

There's five year's worth of policy ideas in Mr. Said's article. And I herewith apologize to all the Zarrar Saids of the world who have more wit, insight and tolerance than I routinely give Muslims credit for. I see that you are out there.

Auxiliary.
That said, I still believe that Islam itself is the problem whether the Muslim community is in the West or in the home country. Notwithstanding the undeniable existence of excellent people like Mr. Said, I am still quite convinced that the dynamics of a Muslim community such as will develop within a newly minted community in Memphis, Tenn., or Dearbornistan, Mich., will be such as to cause influence and control to flow to the imams. And where influence is not voluntarily ceded to the imams, compliance with imamical control will be ensured by the Islamicists who are inevitably part of the community. And, to complete the picture, we know that 80% of the mosques in the U.S. are funded by and controlled by Saudi/Wahhabi money, thus ensuring the maximum of financial support for the most backward, extreme elements. No matter the disparate inputs, the core remains -- the Koran and theocracy, as closely related, as Mao would say, as lips and teeth.

Not on your team.
I am no less convinced that there is such a fundamental incompatibility between Islam and the West that nothing short of voluntary and involuntary removal will deal with this extraordinary danger to our civilization. It's a danger that our governments have shamelessly permitted Islam to take root inside our borders and to metastasize.

Removal we must have but there is no reason we cannot recognize and welcome people who by affirmative action on their part indicated they didn't care for the party that Sayyid Qutb and his pals have had in mind for us since he first went nuts over the thirsty lips and round (not square) breasts of those 1940s Colorado babes.

If you're a Muslim in the West and you did nothing to help fight the ignorant and backward exponents of your faith-legal system, you are part of the problem and unwelcome. Your passivity and silent non-cooperation entitle you to no consideration or dispensation. Providing intelligence to the FBI and local police is one sure way you can demonstrate where your true allegiance lies.
