Both Wright's and Cone's "theology" has as much to do with religion as a catalog from Victoria's Secret. The secret known only to Victoria appears to be how this dippy duo of puffed up flummery got ordained in the first place. At least some of the stuff in the catalog inspires awe. These jokers speak one sentence of "theology" and you head home for a 20-minute hot shower.
Because of the grease.[2]
Organization that have honored Cone – and thereby permanently sullied themselves – are:
- the Mother AME Zion Church,
- Ebony Magazine,
- the Association of Theological Schools,
- the American Academy of Religion, and, what else but
- the NAACP.[3]
The Union Theological Seminary similarly sullied itself by hiring Cone after the appearance of his squalid little book Black Theology and Black Power (1969).[4]
The stench from these guys is overpowering. And Obama thought it was eau de cologne.
