A kind of slavery.
Hatless in Hattiesburg reminds us about a very early American experiment with socialism:
I'll read that book with interest, Jack. It seems self evident that we husband and nurture what is ours better than when it's "ours." Commune-ism is a siren call throughout the ages that denies the truth of man's nature.
If you don't like how naked self interest works in the world, lemme know how you like the world with people who are not motivated to produce.
The desire for a free ride is always there waiting in the wings.

The idea of Socialism was tried even before that in the book of Acts by the Apostles -- and it failed...
I frequently must argue with idiots who try to justify Socialism -- based on "everything in common" in the Bible.
