A great part of America now understands that this president's sense of identification lies elsewhere, and is in profound ways unlike theirs. He is hard put to sound convincingly like the leader of the nation, because he is, at heart and by instinct, the voice mainly of his ideological class. He is the alien in the White House, a matter having nothing to do with delusions about his birthplace cherished by the demented fringe.[1]Ms. Rabinowitz is one of my favorite thinkers. Truly an extraordinary person. Apparently, however, given the way she expresses herself on the point and what she doesn’t say about it, no sane, intelligent person
Her primary point is right on the money, of course. This joker has a visceral response to the names Alinsky, Guevara, Castro, Fanon, Chavez, Ayers, and Said that is light years from his response to the names Madison, Franklin, Churchill, or Reagan.
Moreover, the America that Obama loves is the America that is yet to be:
I decided I won’t wear that [flag] pin on my chest. Instead I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great~ Barack Obama, October 2007.[2]and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism.
Rev. "God damn America!" Wright and friend.
No dumbass American flag lapel pin for him.
Note his studied focus on the future. What America is and what it owes to those who founded and built this country go unmentioned. None of that. The Great
Whatever that future America is, rest assured it’s an America that will bear no resemblance to America as Americans have known it for most of its existence.
Patriotism as vapor.
