As far as the international terrorism is concerned, Americans remind me someone I know in Israel who used to be a dove, almost a pacifist and Palestinian apologist until his car's front window was smashed by the Palestinian stone-throwers. Then, he immediately became an arch-hawk, ready to kill every Palestinian in sight.A small-scale instance of the "crowbar of events," q.v.
It's great this Israeli had an awakening but it doesn't say much for him that the suffering of others didn't disturb him much. Only when his ox was gored did he react and then it was an overreaction.
