[T]he root cause of the horrors we experience almost daily lies with democracy itself, not just liberalism.

First, let's note that every modern, Western-style democracy on the planet suffers from the same set of pathologies: (1) runaway unsustainable government spending; (2) excessive tolerance for criminality, especially nonwhite criminality; (3) uncontrolled legal and illegal immigration from Third Word countries; (4) curtailment of the civil liberties--hate speech laws, laws against firearms etc; (5) an ever expanding administrative state that seeks to dictate every aspect of life, from the car you drive, to what kind of toilet you can own.
