William Bradford's courage, and that of the 102 souls who gave birth with such terrible effort to the country and the freedoms we celebrate this week [Thanksgiving 2009], is surely worth taking a moment to remember. It is also perhaps a moment to remember the inscription on Bradford's grave, the English translation from the Latin as follows:"The Answerable Courage of William Bradford." By Jeffrey Lord, The American Spectator, 11/24/09."What our forefathers with so much difficulty secured, do not basely relinquish."
