Lydia Callis gave an animated and expressive sign language interpretation of a speech by Mayor Bloomberg on Hurricane Sandy which earned her internet fame.

And replacement by an interpreter more to the mayor's liking. Apparently.

Saturday Night Live opened with a marvelous skit taking off on Lydia's performance and also providing an "interpretation" of a speech by N.J. Gov. Chris Christie that he never gave. The actresses are just superb:
