What we see is not the growth of the war state but of government period. It is not the military but the mass of erntitlement programs that has reduced the citizen to a serf.

It's a deadly duo. The welfare and the warfare state. Omitted from that speech are the facts of the Supreme Court's betrayal. It's beyond clear what the Framers and Ratifiers intended about the size of the federal government but for the last 80 years justices stood the Constitution on its head. Their oaths to uphold it meant precisely nothing.
