Being a foreigner I guess I can troll this. She missed an invaluable opportunity to promote [ or denigrate] a line of scarves.
That's funny, I have to say, though I'm trying not to ignore the fact that she was in great pain over something.
Her friends were all shocked by the apparent suicide of Kate Spade.
"We can't believe it. She had a great career. She decided to forego that old canard of being Married and having kids. She had a nice house and great salary. We don't know how this could have happened."
Sales of ice cream have been brisk with her friends. Small furry animals are disappearing off the street.
WE MAY NEVER KNOW WHY SHE DID THIS.
I think the forego marriage and kids angle probably is the sum and substance of this tragedy.
Women are sold such a bill of goods about being independent of men and having a career first. Then suddenly a big chunk of your life is gone and decent men just aren't interested in whether a woman has a "fulfilling" career or not. Who has a fulfilling career anyway? Most people fall into the jobs they have and stick them out to support their families. Not so glamorous.
