Doomed. Doomed, I say.

. . . [T]he Syrian revolution, . . . began seven years ago with the dream of changing Syria from a country governed by a dictatorial, sectarian, corrupt regime to a country in which the principles of citizenship, justice and the rule of law prevail and fundamental freedoms are respected as an issue above the Constitution.[1]
But, woe and alas, Pilgrims:
The treachery of the Syrian revolution came from many conflicting parties that did not have anything in common.[2]
Well, whoa there. Halt, stop, desist, cease, and pause. Not to be a killjoy, but I just have to point out that if the people who are going to make this glorious revolution have nothing in common then . . . that there’s probably a “revolution” that better not get started in the first place, amirite?

And . . . since one of the parties to this revolution, the United States government, has precisely zero respect for citizenship, justice, the rule of law, and fundamental freedoms and is waging war against Syria in violation of its own Constitution and the U.N. Charter, it’s in no position to lecture anyone on the ideal polity anywhere, let alone play at regime change in Syria, which modest enterprise has now led to the death of over 500,000 Syrians and the physical devastation of the country. (That awful ophthalmologist and his supporters! They fought back when they were invaded!)

Wouldn’t that clown car of a U.S. government best be considered radioactive for purposes of any kind of a joint enterprise instead of mewling about a “revolution betrayed”?

I took the pill and studied as much about Syria as I could.
Galactic Colonel you are correct as usual.
Any way we look at this business, this massive arms sales to Saudi Arabia is just horrific.
I read $400 billion dollars [ over an unknown period of time ] and the Emperor bosted that the arms trade supports 40,000 USA workers.
Somehow the deep State Neocons, warmongers and the New Order is in total control here, there isn't any other way to see it that the President is [ by death threat I imagine ] unleashing 400 billion dollars of destruction and tens of thousands of lives.
Russia is in a dreadful position, it must be surreal to watch a Nation psychotic from the top down.

Thanks a lot. Stay tuned for some choice quotes from a former French ambassador. More and more it becomes clear that this was a massive attack on Syria from outside. Anyone who speaks of the Syrian "civil war" is a fool or a liar.

I think I've said here that Putin and Lavrov must feel like they're in a position of having to negotiate with a distraught husband in a domestic dispute situation. Only the husband is drunk and holding a loaded shotgun. In short, they know they are not dealing with decision makers who, in the aggregate, are rational. The burden is unfairly on them to try to keep the lid from flying off. I've posted videos about the admirable demeanor and rational thoughts of the Russian OPCW representative, Assad, Putin, and Lavrov. Compare that with who Haley comes across. Of the words "zealot" and "deranged" as they might apply to her, I prefer "deranged" but only by a whisker.

I read that some intel pros tried in vain to convince Trump that the evidence was not that convincing that Assad had launched a chlorine gas attack on Douma on April 7. Allegedly Trump would have none of it and flew off half cocked. Sorry. No link for that that I can lay my hand on. God bless Trump but that's classic "ready, fire, aim" decisionmaking.
