Arab translators in the U.S. government.

This article below is a must read for anyone still laboring under the illusion that the FBI still operates with the efficiency and fierce commitment to American interests as it did under Mr. Hoover. It's also instructive for the light it sheds on the rank incompetence of the military, CIA, and DHS regarding the matter of hiring Muslim-only translators.

Our security is in the hands of the Little League, only without all that judgment and experience:
The Arab translator problem in our military, FBI, CIA and Homeland Security agencies is a disaster mostly self-inflicted. After 9/11, thousands of Christians and Jews who spoke critical languages like Arabic, Farsi, Pashto and Urdu were brushed aside and not considered. The government had been cajoled into thinking only Muslims could speak and interpret Arabic, the “holy language” of Islam. This has led to Muslim translators, as we have seen, passing information to insurgents in Iraq and to Hezbollah in Lebanon and doubtless on to Syria and Iran.

However, despite this, the Army persists in the delusion that this is an important track to fill its quota of desperately needed Arabic translators.
It's much, much worse than what this snippet reveals.

Hillary and Obama are the usual Dems who think national security ranks below preserving caribou habitats and McCain doesn't know we have a border or alien infiltration problem. Do you really think one of these three clowns will do something to fix the intelligence and counterintelligence problems identified by our source?

Bush 43 bent over backwards to kiss the ring of the Saudis and the Department of Homeland Security is positively in a sycophantic swoon about how bureaucrats must never rhetorically hurl anything at a Muslim more lethal than a cheese-filled Danish.

McHillabam will rush to do the same.

It's going to be a long four years. Can't we drag Larry Elder from his bed and force him to run for President?

" ... thousands of Christians and Jews who spoke critical languages like Arabic, Farsi, Pashto and Urdu were brushed aside and not considered ..." Oh my goodness. I knew there was a shortage of Arabic and Farsi translators, but to turn away trustworthy speakers is just stupid.

I know some security offices, maybe the military, not sure, are running bulletin boards with Arabic words saying "If you can read this, we want you." I almost vomited.

Jack, that's great. I long suspected the two parties brought those three great guys out of retirement to run for prez.

Debbie, it seems that the USG just can't get any traction when it comes to sensible policies to counter the Muslim threat. The sole operating premise seems to be "They're a great bunch of guys. Go ahead, jeopardize your government career if you would like to suggest anything different."

The positive bias in favor of only one source of Arabic talent is not just disturbing. It's bizarre. I simply can't accept that the USG bought that idea that only only Muslims can interpret the Holy Language of Islam. That's so patently stupid that something purposeful must have been at work. Not by accident did the "recruiters" of other translators turn out to be Muslims.

From The Red Decade on the US seems to have been dangerously incapable of dealing with communist subversion. Now, with the dab of religion that comes packaged with Islam we seem to be really paralyzed. Our "tolerance" for the intolerable is killing us slowly and . . . there are many westerners who ardently advocate that tolerance.
