Good question.

The editorial board of the Washington Post recently advised Zelensky:
“Mr. Zelensky now has the opportunity to forge a partnership with Mr. Biden that could decisively advance Ukraine’s attempt to break free from Russia and join the democratic West. He should seize on it.”
So, now that we’ve shown who is doing the pushing here, let’s turn to the final takeaway from Heritage Foundation master strategists. Tsereteli and Carafano come right out and say “countries left outside of NATO will remain targets of Russian aggression and manipulations.” So, the purpose of all this supposed spread of militaristic-based democracy is to expand NATO to [too?]? I mean, seriously. Washington is not reaching out with the Peace Corps to shore up a budding Eastern European democracy. The United States is kidnapping another former Soviet republic on the way to the big score. My country has military bases in almost every country in the world, has had more wars than the Mongols, and spends more on weapons than everybody else combined – but Russia is being aggressive! Who believes this bullshit?

To answer your question, not me! But what I find astonishingly weird about that Wapo quote is the idea of Ukraine breaking free of Russia. You mean ... Ukraine isn't already free of Russia?? Who kudda known?

BTW Wapo, Russia has (and wants) absolutely nothing to do with the Nazi regime in Kiev.

Good point. You'd think it's Russian tanks in Kiev like the Soviet ones in Budapest in '56.

You may have seen earlier posts of mine in which I calculate the percentage increase in the Russian land mass by acquiring S. Ossetia, Crimea, Ukraine, Moldova, etc. These would be inconsequential singly or together in terms of just area and even more so in terms of resources. The idea of buffer zones in case of NATO attack similarly makes no sense in an age of satellite surveillance, deadly SAMs, and long-range, pinpoint-accurate missiles and artillery.

Yet the NATO-neocon-CFR-Congressional liars cry wolf and act like they have have heard of the concept of marginal utility. Minuscule benefit to Russia from expansion and huge penalty.

The real threat is the loose cannon US that pursues the chimera of "world leadership.". Ask me if I care about world leadership. Esp. when our own nation is barely above third-world politics.

One of the worst side effects of the reality that Stalin left us in about 1957 is the intellectual and personal v isolation that eventuates. I realised recently that I haven't really watched TV for about ten years. After this period the entire brain thinks differently to that of the slaves. The hysteria created by the false plague has added to the numbers of people who know what's going on but we are still thin. The number of people in New Zealand who know anything about the Al Noor hoax is less than a handful. We learn to use disguised and vague language. because now we have to. Big Sister has converted New Zealand into a collective of acceptable socialist think.

There's a not-quite-apt saying that some people know the price of everything but the value of nothing. Also the one that goes something like some people know stuff passionately but it's just not true. A poor rendition, I know. Even if propaganda is subtle and insidious it still seeps into people's store of Earnest Convictions like the mist that seeps under the door in some Steven King horror movie.

It operates, however, to create that armor around men's minds of which Solzhenitsyn spoke. The MSM operate to subtly push themes and values and the cumulative effect it pure poison. I remember a TV series about a Deputy U.S. Marshall who gets posted back in his home town. He's shown visiting an old friend who you are ed to understand is of the good old boy persuasion. Smart but still definitely grounded in fly over country. The camera follows the hero into his friend's house and ostentatiously records . . . get this . . . a picture of a large set of SS runes hanging on the wall AND a Confederate flag AND a large white cross. Any doubt about the associations the director wants the viewer to make in his mind?

Then there's the related phenomenon of your waking up some day and suddenly the term "white privilege" or "gender" something or other are being spoken of everywhere you turn. No mention in all previous recorded history but . . . today and forever after . . . look out! Rush pioneered the montage technique that skewered those stupid enough to climb on board that train to fame.

I've not focused on the Al Noor "incident" and am inclined to discount its being anything but what it was to any casual observer. I recall that there was a strange absence of blood visible on any of the victims but that's as much as I can point to that is suspicious.
However, I will say that the government hysteria about criminalizing possession of the killer's manifesto and fanatically suppressing debate about it suggests something very rotten under the surface. The government benefited by getting good practice in clamping down on civil liberties and it certainly made criticism of Muslim immigration impossible lest one get associated with you know who.
