So I dunno, if experts have been warning for many years that NATO expansion would provoke an attack, and the guy launching the attack is explicitly citing NATO expansion as a driving motive for his actions, it seems like maybe it’s sorta kinda got something to do with NATO expansion.[1]This is from a very interesting article. The delusion or worse of Michael McFaul, Tom Malinowski, Ryan Goodman, Anne Applebaum, and Isabelle Khurshudyan is astonishing. It's as Putin or some other Russian official or commentator has observed. The U.S. just will not hear us. And so it has been.
It's supremely ok for the U.S. to have gone ballistic, so to speak, over Soviet missiles in Cuba but the U.S. is just tone deaf if any Russian says something remotely like "legitimate sphere of influence." Given the aggressive U.S. policies in Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, I say that "aggressiveness" describes U.S. conduct everywhere not "evenhandedness" or "attentiveness."
