Missing fatwas.

Noviana [Malewa], now 16, and Theresia Morangke, 15, Yarni Sambue, 15, and Alfita Poliwo, 17, were ambushed [October 29, 2005] by six masked Islamic terrorists, who decapitated the three. Noviana survived because the sword slash did not make a direct connection and she ran away bleeding.

Authorities reported the heads of the three girls were found in bags on the steps of a church and along a road, carrying a message, "We will murder 100 more Christian teenagers and their heads will be presented as presents."^[1]

You may remember reports of these beheadings in Indonesia almost a year ago.

Some salient facts:

• The victims were children;
• the victims were female;
• the victims were Christians;
• the victims were chosen because they were Christian;
• their attackers were six Muslims, presumably males;
• their attackers hid behind masks;
• their attackers decapitated three of the four girls and horribly injured the fourth;
• their attackers threatened to kill 100 more Christians; and
• the attack took place in supposedly "moderate" Indonesia.

It's now 329 days since this cowardly attack and no local imam, no other Indonesian imam, and no other imam in the world has issued a fatwa calling for these subhumans to be hunted down and killed.

Osama says a fatwa issued by an Egyptian "cleric" in federal prison to kill Americans anywhere they can be found gave religious authority for the 9/11 attacks so we know there's clearly no jurisdictional problem for foreign imams who want to help out and put the Evil Eye on wayward Muslims.^[2]

Question: So where are the fatwas against those who killed these poor children?

Is there any reasonable person who doubts these points:

• Imams everywhere are generally in agreement that these attacks are ok;
• the local Indonesian Muslim community has closed ranks completely behind these attackers; and
• Indonesian authorities have ignored the intelligence they have on the identity of the perpetrators?

It's no end of amazing that some minor cartoons about Mohammed can call forth organized riots and at least one death fatwa from Muslim leaders around the world but there is only this profound silence when disgraceful murders take place in the name of Allah.

Islam disgraces itself by its silence on this and thousands upon thousands of other similar crimes.
