Some insights into democracy.

Think about this next time some TV newscaster swoons over the Egyptian demonstrations as a manifestation of "democracy":
That is the problem with democracy, you do not need to believe it in order to make use of it. It is not a covenant or a philosophy, only a means to an end.

. . . You can give people the vote, but you can't make them think for themselves. . . .

. . . What does democracy mean in such a system [of tribal politics and behind-the-scene power brokers]? A power shift. The general public can never rule and doesn't want to. What it wants is cheap food and fuel, jobs and security, and for things to be the way they were in their grandfather's time.
An insightful article as always with many depressing insights into the Muslim mind and what a futile thing it is to hope that Muslim societies will ever not be primitive.
