Cognitive dissonance.

We are arguing over a debt ceiling of $14.29 trillion. But what about the $55+ trillion of unfunded entitlements? How about the guarantees using the full faith and credit of the US (Fannie, Freddie, Student Loans, etc), another $16+ trillion, a greater figure than the debt itself? There is an air of unreality to the discussions, a gaping cognitive dissonance that makes the Grand Canyon look like a crack in the pavement.
