In the future, the security of the free world will depend upon a very simple but challenging variable: whether the U.S. military is so overpowering as to appear indestructible to any enemy, whether it's a sovereign power or an extra-national armed organization. Why is this a difficult proposition for liberals/socialists to understand? And how in the world did we end up with a naïf as the putative commander in chief? We’ve had presidents who’d commanded troops in the field before taking office. Our present leader has classroom experience as a teacher and community organizer.
That way, they won't dare wage war against us or our allies. And if they do, they'll regret it.
What Mr. Obama has dreams about at night is his civilian defense force -- which the lap dog press has to date yet to quiz him about -- not the military defense force. Trash removal and neighborhood watch organizations over preserving the nation itself.
While Obama is getting leg tingles over the vision of a world without nuclear weapons the N. Koreans launch a test ICBM. Does he think they want to use it for weather satellites? Will it cause him to adjust his thinking one bit?
I know one fine gentleman who turns positively green at the sight of even tv violence and just won’t watch it. But that won’t make it go away. And his aversion to it -- and his ardent liberal politics -- won’t do one thing to reduce violence.
Only overwhelming force deters violence or ends it, one.

Instead of bailing out moribund car manufacturers and corrupt financial institutions, we should re-charge the economy with military spending. Not only would this give us more defensive and, if necessary, offensive firepower; it would put money in the pockets of workers and managers who turn out useful products and provide knock-on benefits for subcontractors and suppliers.
But to Commissar Obama, that would just be "wasteful," unlike financial shenanigans, "reforming" the healthcare system by turning it into another gigunda federal bureaucracy, and building his private AmeriCorps army.
A great idea, Rick. It will be a cold day in hell when the Democrats, let alone Mr. Obama, embrace the military. I remember a fellow Army reservist some years back who recounted the comment of a German who later made it into the U.S. Army after WWII: "You never want to lose a war." Libs hide behind the Great Shield but never know it. And trash it all the while. I hope there's a special place in hell for the idiot repubs who strayed so far away from anything remotely resembling repub positions in non-military areas. The last crew was solid on military strength in general but bought into the "military base in every country, European countries continue the free ride" idea. They forfeited power to the Treason Party and they don't give a damn about defense.
. . . IT doesn't give a damn about defense.
