Thinking white.

I think trying to blame people like Sharpton and Jackson gives those guys too much credit. I do not think that their influence on the everyday black man in LA is that strong, especially since those guys are from NY.

I believe that black culture needs to take a close look at itself. They need to promote education, responsibility, and effort. Seems like blacks think that they can operate outside these simple goals and succeed, but they can't, and proof is in the pudding.

To those that think that this blog post was racist is just trying close your eyes to the truth. Blacks have a problem, and it's not the KKK in horses burning crosses outisde of your house, or the asian liquor store owner, or the jewish diamond merchant, or the white cop. It's you, your family, and your community for not telling you that you can do whatever you want, and that it can be achieved through EDUCATION and good work ethics.[1]
So writes Steven commenting over at Planck’s Constant. It’s an excellent comment and I think it also sheds light on a ubiquitous aversion among underclass blacks to “thinking white.” (I’ll tentatively not say lower class for now.)

And what is this most mysterious of concepts, this "thinking white"? It is:
  • Valuing education.
  • Demanding responsibility.
  • Exerting effort.
And why do underclass blacks turn from pensamientos blancos like Superman from Kryptonite? Because they have been abandoned by their elders:
Why isn't Al Sharpton demanding that black sports professionals, black actors, black rap stars and black millionaires use their wealth to bolster business and economic development in poor, urban black neighborhoods? Huh, eh, what? Why does Oprah open schools in Africa instead of Detroit?

Because they have given up on black America. And young blacks know there is no one to care or help them, so they are left with nothing but crime to get their piece of the American pie.[2]
Nor is it just the failure of successful blacks to spend money on raising up “disadvantaged” blacks or encouraging them. It’s the failure of all non-underclass blacks -- and their non-black enablers -- to be up in arms about Mt. Everest rates of illegitimacy, killer welfare dependency, illegal immigration that shuts off access to entry-level jobs, and opportunity-killing spending, taxes, and the gray, greasy socialism that Dem political leaders roll around in like a dog in a sackful of dead skunks.

That said, I don’t think Bernie has made a strong case in his post that blacks are more racist than whites. Black criminals are more racist than white criminals might be more accurate.

One can perhaps infer that blacks are more racist from the support given Al “Twana Drama” Sharpton and Jessie “the Player” Jackson by blacks that Bernie adverts to, and I think he is, in fact, implying just that. I happen to think Bernie’s probably right but I don’t think he’s made the strongest of cases for his main point.

The commenter Spackle’s account of his family’s experience of black criminality is nothing short of astonishing. I doubt he or she would be much impressed by my foregoing daintiness.

Thus do we all finally exhibit not-cowardice about the honest debate about race that Mr. Eric Holder so wants us to have.

Thanks for linking to my article. Although I agree with you that the solution is not rich blacks helping poor blacks, the point I was making is that successful blacks have given up on poor blacks, not that they could change anything by helping the poor. Unfortunately one article certainly is not enough room to even give a bare outline of the problem.

I worry for the future; the election of Obama certainly will give hope to all blacks that they too can succeed in this country; however, because he's a socialist he will fail and he'll make things so horrible that America will never elect another black man as President for a 1000 years.
